§ 05 — Instructions to Candidates (Annexure-I)
Key Rules Every SSC Typing Aspirant Must Know
- 01. Candidates must type words, figures, and numerical/years exactly as given in the Question Paper (both English and Hindi). Typing differently or in another language will be treated as a mistake — this applies to both mediums.
- 02. Candidates must type the passage in the medium opted at the time of application. No credit will be given if a candidate types in a medium not opted by them.
- 03. Candidates must use the Tab Key to begin every new paragraph. Manually giving spaces without pressing Tab will be treated as a half-mistake for each such paragraph.
- 04. Candidates are not required to repeat the passage after completing it. However, if time remains, they are allowed to revise and correct mistakes within the prescribed time.
- 05. After every punctuation mark (comma, full stop, question mark, etc.), only one space is to be inserted. Follow the Question Paper carefully in this regard.
- 06. Any incomplete word arising for any reason will be treated as one full mistake.

Important: The SSC Typing Test and DEST are qualifying in nature for the respective posts. For LDC/JSA, choose your medium (English or Hindi) carefully at the application stage — it cannot be changed later. For DEO posts, speed is measured in key depressions, not WPM. Always download and read the latest official SSC notification at ssc.gov.in before your exam for any post-specific updates.
